Welcome!

Mount Olive Baptist Church is an independent Baptist church that’s been preaching the gospel and serving Amherst community for over 120 years! We are a congregation that is ethnically diverse and multi-generational.
Our mission as a church family is to be the serving, loving hand of Jesus to the people of Amherst and beyond.
What You Can Expect
We sing a blend of traditional and contemporary hymns.
We are more concerned with the heart of people, rather than their clothes. Some people wear their “Sunday best” while others choose to wear more casual clothes. Whatever you choose, we’re glad you chose to worship with us!
We offer children’s church for kids, kindergarten – 12 years of age.
We do not currently have a nursery service; however, we have a nursery room with a TV available for parents who would like to use it.
We understand that some people don’t like to be put on the spot. We ask that if you’re a first time visitor, you fill out a visitor’s card so that we can have a record of your visit.

What We Believe
We believe that the Bible, in it’s original form, is the inerrant, infallible, and authoritative word of God, written by men of God who where divinely inspired by God. We also believe that God divinely preserved his word throughout the centuries, so that we today can know him by His word.
We believe that the God of the Bible is the one true, living God and there are no others. He is self-existent, self-sufficient, eternal, infinite, omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient, immutable, sovereign, incomprehensible, inscrutable, holy, righteous, just, true, faithful, good, long-suffering, gracious, merciful, and loving.
We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, 100% man and 100% God. He left Heaven to be born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross, was raised to life again after three days, and is now seated in Heaven with God the Father.
We believe that God is three complete persons in one – God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
We believe that salvation is God’s free gift of reconciliation to himself for all eternity. A person is saved only by faith in the sinless life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Salvation is not dependent on any amount of good works or other actions, including baptism.
